Our Story
Purely Porcelain is a South African family business making porcelain jewellery, homeware and diffuser flowers, inspired by flowers and the natural world.
It started with a birthday present
For her 40th, Fiona's husband gave her a secondhand kiln and a pottery wheel, and she began playing with porcelain at home.
In 2016 her daughter Megan, an art director by trade, joined her, and what began at a kitchen table has blossomed into the family business it is today. Megan's brothers are part of it too: Michael, an industrial designer, and Tim, a ceramicist.
Every petal, shaped by hand
Today our team shapes every petal by hand in our studio in the seaside village of Kalk Bay.
Each flower is made the same way, and each comes out a little different, just like flowers in nature. Yours will be slightly different. That's how you know a person made it.
Our team
The people behind every flower. Pop into the Kalk Bay studio and you'll find them at the long tables, rolling, cutting and shaping, with trays of petals drying by the window.
From Cape Town to Chelsea
From 2022 to 2025 we took our flowers to the Chelsea Flower Show in London. Today they're stocked by boutiques, galleries and hotels across South Africa and overseas.
